Godliness with Contentment is great gain
1 Tim 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
God is speaking to me.
So it says in my devotion:
Contentment does not mean satisfaction (i often thought so!)
- with our great natures we never can be satisfied. Being contented does not mean that a person enjoys discomforts, hardships, narrow circumstances, sufferings. That would be unatural.
To be contented is to
accept one's condition and circumstances, whatever they may be for the time,
without complaining, making the best of them.
Paul speaks of his own experience. He says,
"I have learned, in whatsoever state i am, therewith to be content."
He has learnt to be independent of conditions. He has in his own heart the resources for quiet and peace, so that in the barest circumstances he did not fret.
Paul learnt to be content.
"He who is contented is rich, though he have only godliness.
Discontent is poverty, though a man have millions."
i love this sentence. really.
once upon a time, i used to think contentment comes quite easily to me...
haha... i guess not.
Cheryl and i had a small chat abt us being fatalistic.
i told her she really used the right word for us, cuz we can be so idealistic that we are unrealistic.
and therefore fatalistic. Her nicks says it all,
try,try, and try again.
Try, trying 1792487932100000 times while doing lifeee.
while we are at it, we shall endeavor to laugh, together with our friends!
if not... we will not do life
life will do you. hahaha
-laughs-
